I figured this would be a very different and engaging type of content for the domain industry, with information that is shared and presented in a way that hasn’t been done in this industry before, at least not that I’ve seen. I will be giving a run down of some of the domain names I bought over the past few days and the reasoning behind the purchases.
This weekend the Iron Bowl took place, a college football rivalry game between The University of Alabama and the Auburn School of Bovine Studies. For those who don’t know of me, I’m a student finishing out my last semester at Alabama and I’ve grown up in Alabama my whole life, so I’m a pretty die-hard Bama fan. This year’s Iron Bowl ended in pretty spectacular fashion, with Auburn once again choking the game away. Take a look at the highlight below and tell me college football isn’t the best sport out there.
On to the domains. The number of names usually won’t be this high, but I found myself with alot of time to focus on domaining this weekend. Aiming for 8-10 pick-ups a day ideally. Most of these are from GoDaddy Closeouts.
Domain names in .com:
- NZWellness – New Zealand Wellness or just a random NZ+Wellness. I find good “wellness” names sell well.
- Newtrish – A fun spin on Nutritious
- Stxrt – Start with an X instead of an A. Could be a fun name should XR get hot.
- ThatsHype – A Gen-Z phrase for “That’s cool”. My favorite grab of the weekend.
- PureCbdGummies – If you ingest something you want it be pure, right? CBD Gummies are still big business.
- EatHappier – Sounds like a fun, positive brand. There are a few websites out there built on worse variations of this name, which is always a big indicator for me.
- YouArentAlone – We all need to be reminded of it sometimes. A good name, I hope it goes to good use.
- Iwuko – These random pronounceable 5Ls sell well enough to justify loading up on good ones.
- OutstandingDigital – I bailed out on the BoldDigital auction and picked this up from closeouts. Not nearly as good, but significantly cheaper.
- CoolCatsAndKittens – Anybody remember Carole Baskins from Tiger King? What a crazy cultural phenomenon that show was.
- Grotzke – A last name with a number of business that had branded around it. I think it’s Polish?
- TheKindMovement – We need more kindness in the world. Maybe we need a movement to inspire that.
- MistifyMe – A fun, evocative name. Not sure what the commercial application would be. Could be a cool name for a blog.
- CochranAssociates – A few end-users out there with this name.
- DelightfulRealty – I’m not sure about this name. Realtors like positive terms +Realty but I don’t know how popular a term “Delightful” is.
- KsbAssociates – A few end-users out there with this name as well. I think this one was a bit of a reach.
Miss of the day: ThriveTheory.com – I loved the alliteration of this name but I was waiting for it to drop to 11 at closeouts and someone snapped it up at 30. Moral of the story: if you love a name go ahead and get it and stop being cheap.
On a side note: Over the weekend GoDaddy decided I was Singaporean and now all valuations and prices are listed in CNY. This has happened a few times at GD an it’s super annoying. Do any of you know how to set location and preferences permanently at GD so I don’t have to deal with this again?
Some closing thoughts: Seasoned investors may look at this list and say that I’m overbuying some mid-level, inventory-filler names. I’ve recently set a goal of getting to $10k in revenue each month, so I’m trying to scale up quickly with quality inventory-level names to get there.
